April 23 – 26, 2020 – Four Noble Truths Virtual Retreat

In adversity we find opportunity. Normally, we would be offering our Spring retreat at Waunita Hot Springs Ranch. However, within all of the challenges and suffering resulting from the COVID -19, we realized we needed to step up in a new way to provide mental, emotional, and spiritual support to our greater community. So we have decided to offer a virtual retreat. This will allow us to reach more people with the wisdom and practices embedded in the foundational teaching on the causes of suffering and the methods the eliminate suffering. These teachings are incredibly timely now and are accessible to anyone, whether they are Buddhist or not.

The retreat will be facilitated by John Bruna and will focus on teachings from the book, A Simple Path, by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. This is a rich and insightful commentary on the Four Noble Truths.

The retreat will include teachings, meditation, and discussion. The first half of the day will include periods of silence and reflection and the afternoons and evenings will include discussions and question-and-answer periods.  John has a particular gift for making these precious teachings accessible and practical for our modern lifestyles. All of his teachings focus on preparing participants to properly engage in authentic practice in ways that are effective and meaningful to them. He always points out that knowing Dharma is not nearly as helpful as practicing Dharma.

This is a three-day retreat and we will follow the usual schedule we have at Waunita. You can any attend any or all of the sessions that fit into your schedule. As with all of our programs, the teachings are offered on a free-will donation basis. You may offer any amount to register. Please make sure your needs are met before offering a donation.
