Monks of Gaden Shartse Monastery in Gunnison

June 14-17, 2023

The Here and Now Center is excited to announce that the monks of the famed Gaden Shartse Monastery are coming to Gunnison! We will be hosting a full schedule of events over four days, June 14-17, 2023. All programs are open to the public.


Schedule of Events

Wednesday, June 14th, 6 pm to 8 pm – Talk, Meditation, and Potluck

Get to know the monks. There will be a talk, guided meditation, and potluck at the Here and Now Center.

Location: Here and Now Center, 115 S. Colorado Street, Gunnison (behind the Sherpa Cafe)
Offered on a donation basis, any amount. All proceeds go to support the monastery in India.

Thursday, June 15th, at 5:00 pm – World Peace and the Unity of all Religions

Join us for a talk and discussion on world peace and unity of all religions at
the Gunnison Congregational Church.

Location: Gunnison Congregational Church, 317 N Main St, Gunnison.
Suggested donation $15. All proceeds go to support the monastery in India.

Friday, June 16th, at 5:00 pm – Vajravidaran Healing Ritual

Vajravidaran is a Buddha associated with purification and health. Physical and mental health is impacted by our karmic imprints. This ritual offers an opportunity to improve your health by purifying negative karma. The Vajravidaran ritual of purification and has three stages: the removal of negativities, the cleansing of subtle negative imprints, and protection from their return.

Location: Gunnison Public Library

Saturday, June 17th at 11:00 am – Arts and Crafts of Tibet Workshop

Join us for an arts and crafts of Tibet workshop including butter sculpture,
sand mandalas, and calligraphy – kids encouraged! This is hands-on, family-friendly fun.

Location: Gunnison Art Center, 102 S Main Street, back room.
Suggested donation: $25. All proceeds go to support the monastery in India.

Saturday, June 17th, at 7:00 PM – White Tara Long Life Empowerment

White Tara is the goddess of Long Life. She is one of the main deities used by both Tibetan Yogis/ Yoginis and lay practitioners in the practice of requesting a long and healthy life. Known particularly for her swiftness in fulfilling the long‑life wishes of the practitioner, White Tara is looked to for happiness and inspiration.

Location: Gunnison Art Center, 102 S Main Street, back room.
Suggested donation: $25. All proceeds go to support the monastery in India.

Personal Healings, House, Land, and Business Blessings

During the day Thursday, Friday, and Saturday personal healing and house blessings
