Approaching the Buddhist Path

On Wednesdays, our spiritual director, John Bruna, provides commentary and guidance on the book, Approaching the Buddhist Path. This precious text is the first volume in a multi-volume collection presenting His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s comprehensive explanation of the Buddhist path. The series collects his presentations of every step of the path to enlightenment, compiled and co-authored by Bhikshuni Thubten Chodron. John helps bring this text to life in practical and accessible ways for our lives in the modern world.
His Holiness has recognized that new approaches are needed to allow seekers in the West to experience the relevance of the liberating message of Buddhism in their own lives. Such an approach cannot assume listeners are free from doubt and already have faith in Buddhism’s basic tenets. This first volume, therefore, starts from the universal human wish for happiness and presents the dynamic nature of the mind. It also provides a wealth of reflections on Buddhist history and fundamentals, contemporary issues, and the Dalai Lama’s own personal experiences.
John is known for his clear and approachable teachings that are particularly suited for a Western mind. Join us and explore these precious teachings.
