“Meditation means learning to control our minds, thereby protecting our minds from domination by delusion and other afflictions.” – 14th Dalai Lama

“How many obscurations and how many afflictions have been subdued or cleared away? This is the true test of meditation, not what wonderful or special experiences we might have.” 17th Karmapa

“Whether we sit with our arms folded this way and our legs crossed that way is of little consequence. But it is extremely important to check and see if whatever meditation we do is an actual remedy for our suffering.” Lama Yeshe

Join us for a day dedicated to cultivating and establishing a shamatha (calm abiding) meditation practice. Shamatha is a foundational meditation practice designed specifically to establish mental balance, often called attentional balance, and mindfulness. It is the antidote for a ruminating and busy mind.

The retreat will be facilitated by John (Chophel) Bruna and will include meditation, as well as instruction for practical application of meditation into your daily life.

This retreat is suitable for beginners as well as practiced meditators.
