The Four Noble Truths: Compassion

John Bruna, spiritual director of the Way of Compassion Dharma Center, comments on a public talk given by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. John begins by encouraging the study and practice of the Three Principle Aspects of the path. He unpacks His Holiness’s comments that we all have the inborn right to be happy and to avoid suffering. John then goes on to explain that despite our best efforts we often create our own suffering. He also brings up an interesting dynamic of human intelligence and how it can help us cultivate genuine happiness but can also work against our pursuit of well-being.
